The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust will be opening its Bridgeton Bus Garage to the public on the first Sunday in May, June, July, August and September 2017. Visitors will have access to wander round and look at what goes on, seeing vehicle restoration work at all stages. This will include our large display of restored vehicles. Information about each vehicle is displayed on them. GVVT volunteers will also be on hand around the building to help visitors with queries and answer questions.
To let visitors experience travel 1960’s style, one of our preserved Glasgow Corporation buses will operate a free hourly service between the garage and George Square in the city centre. The service will depart George Square (North side) at 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400 and 1500. The return service to George Square will depart from Broad Street at 1044, 1144, 1244, 1344 and 1544.
We will have a number of displays from our Archives which chart aspects of Glasgow’s transport history going back over 100 years. There will also be a display from our Back on the Road programme as well as the ever popular model bus displays from the Model Bus Federation.
The GVVT’s Leyland Leopard single decker will be parked up in the yard for those who want to see what it’s like to sit behind the wheel of a bus.
Our much celebrated Clippie’s Café will be open serving a range of refreshments and snacks.
Activities for kids include our Lego man treasure hunt.
