KAG 856 was one of 97 PD2/20s bought by Western SMT between 1955 and 1957. The body orders were sourced from Northern Counties and Alexander, KAG being from the latter.
KAG 856 served Western SMT from 1957 to 1971, mostly based at Inchinnan, passing to Alexander Northern where it ran for another six years as its NRB301.
After withdrawal from service, KAG passed to a Perthshire farm for use as a bothy for fruit and potato pickers. Then in 1993 the bus found itself at a Barnsley scrapyard.
Rescued by the British Bus Preservation Group, the vehicle eventually was housed at the Keighley Bus Museum, where much restoration of the bodywork was undertaken, before being bought by a group of GVVT members.
