Glasgow's last AEC buses were 89 forward entrance Regent Vs introduced between 1960 and 1962 as tramcar replacements. These vehicles spent most of their time on busy cross-city services. The chassis were supplied with AV590 engines, air-operated Mono-control gearboxes and air brakes, and were built at the AEC (Associated Equipment Company) plant at Southall in Middlesex. The bodywork was by W. Alexander & Sons of Kilsyth.
A350 was new to Possilpark Garage in January 1961 and was operated by Glasgow Corporation until March 1972 when it was delicensed. It was relicensed in June 1974 at Knightswood Garage and operated by the GGPTE until it was finally delicensed in July 1975. It was then converted to an exhibition bus for a variety of purposes, including staff training. It was purchased for preservation in January 1983 and some of the restorative work was performed by a team from the "Back on the Road" project operated by the Scotland Against Drugs program. The bus was subsequently acquired by Chris Jones of the GVVT in July 2005.
Externally restored, A350 is now undergoing mechanical and interior restoration. Recently, its engine was successfully started and the bus driven under its own power for the first time in many years.
