GVVT Open Weekend 2017 Information Page

Welcome to the information page for the GVVT Open Weekend 2017. Please check back here for up to date information as the event approaches.

The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust is delighted to confirm that following the success of the 2016 Open Weekend the 2017 Open Weekend will be held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October 2017 from 10am till 5pm each day. Each day will follow the same format.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of yesteryear with our free vintage bus service to and from the City Centre and the Riverside Museum.  The service will use a selection of historic buses from the GVVT collection together with a number of visiting vehicles.  The service will operate to the timetable posted below.

Inside the garage, we’ll have a fine display of buses, commercial vehicles and fire engines again many visiting the garage from elsewhere.  We will also have a number of modern buses from today’s operators which will let visitors contrast buses of today with their predecessors from the 20th Century.  The vehicle displays also give the visitor insight into all stages of vehicle restoration, from rusting hulks, to preservation in progress and finally to the restored vehicle.

Other popular activities will be running:

  • We will have a large number of stalls selling souvenirs, books, models, photos and autojumble.

  • There will be an exhibition of artefacts from the GVVT Archive.

  • The Model Bus Federation will be bringing their dioramas showing their models in a range of street scenes.

  • Finally, and not to be forgotten, the Clippies' Café will be opening serving refreshments and light snacks (including lots of home baking!)

Admission prices:

Adults £6, Child/OAP £4, Family £15. Weekend pass available (adults £10, child/OAP £6).

Entrance to Bridgeton Bus Garage will be via our Broad Street door.  Here visitors will be met by one of our GVVT Volunteers.
